According to statistics from relevant departments of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, including vehicle manufacturing and auto parts export, the total aluminum consumption in China's auto manufacturing industry in 2019 was 5.935 million tons, with a compound annual growth rate of 12% from 2011 to 2019.

According to preliminary statistics, in 2019, China's passenger car bike with aluminum amount for an average of 140 kg, compared with previous years increase year by year, which accounted for about 85% of aluminum castings, aluminum tape, aluminum foil, aluminum extrusion materials and processing materials such as aluminum forgings accounted for about 15%, especially some of the new energy vehicles in the automotive lightweighting has made great progress, and a handful of electric car white body aluminized rate reached more than 92%.

The application of aluminum alloy in new energy vehicles has the advantages of reducing weight, improving endurance range, improving vehicle mobility and stable handling performance, shock absorption, easy recovery and so on. In terms of energy consumption, a 10% reduction in vehicle weight can increase fuel efficiency by 6% to 8%, increase range by 13.5%, and reduce 100km acceleration time by 5%.
